Since I just jumped into the discussion, I thought I should introduce myself.

I direct the teacher professional development programs of the Da Vinci Science Center, a small hands-on science center in Allentown, PA. I have been at the Center for 6 years. I am a geologist by training and was a professor of geology, environmental science, and physics for 10 years. While teaching, I became active in science education reform, began to use faciltiation instead of lecturing, attended facilitator training for the problem-based learning track at the Medical College of Pennsylvania, and joined Project Kaleidoscope's Faculty for the 21st Century. Through PKAL, I received a variety of facilitator and leadership training. I have been using learner-centered facilitation in my teaching for about 10 years. Much of my current work also involved facilitating teams of teachers, college faculty, and others who are working together to teach the professional development programs we offer.

In addition to my work, I get to practice and develop my skills as President of a growing Reconstructionist synagogue, Congregation Am Haskalah.
