I wanted to let fellow listerines know that I've made available for free download a .pdf file of our primer, Meaningful Participation, an activist's guide to collaborative policy making (http://tinyurl.com/6ktud8). It's a very short primer on some of the things a community activist might want to think about before engaging in collaborative policy making. It's not designed to be a how to book, just things to think about before leaping in.

So, the day I posted this, our server went down. My apologies. If you tried to download a copy and couldn't, please try again.

Hi Facilitators!

Building on Gayle's post, here are links to some UK resources (some of which I have a direct interest in, some not) which you may find interesting / useful:

http://www.sd-commission.org.uk/pages/engagement.html UK quasi Government body, advising UK Government on Sustainable Development, with underlying belief that engagement and participation will be vital to shifting society onto a sustainable trajectory.

http://www.involve.org.uk/deliberative_principles UK Charity promoting good practice in public involvement and engagement in decision-making.

http://www.sciencewise-erc.org.uk/ Government-funded Expert Resource Centre, providing guidance and hand-holding for policy makers with science-related issues they'd like to engage the public in.

Looking forward to hearing about more resources....

Warm regards

Penny
